Crest commissioners pass resolutions urging governor to further open tourism industry

PRESS RELEASE
WILDWOOD CREST – The Board of Commissioners of the Borough of Wildwood Crest has passed a pair of resolutions urging New Jersey Governor Phil Murphy to further open the tourism industry for the benefit of both businesses and the community at large in Wildwood Crest.

The resolutions were passed unanimously by Mayor/Commissioner Don Cabrera, Commissioner Joyce Gould and Commissioner David Thompson at the board’s regularly scheduled meeting on Wednesday, June 3.

The resolutions call for the governor to allow small businesses and swimming pools to open under proper safety protocols, including all appropriate social-distancing measures.

“The tourism industry is an absolutely vital component to the economy here in Wildwood Crest,” Cabrera said. “Our economy is driven by the ability to attract guests to our wonderful shore community during what is a very short season. The further reopening of small businesses and swimming pools needs to occur, in order to bring income to small businesses and provide jobs to the good people in our community.

“The State of New Jersey and, in particular, Cape May County have seen a flattening of the curve in the fight against the COVID-19 pandemic. It is past time to further reopen small businesses and swimming pools in an effort to kickstart the economy here in Wildwood Crest.”
