NJ gov't shutdown would NOT affect Wildwoods beaches

The looming possibility of another New Jersey government shutdown - the second in two years - poses no threat to the beaches of the Wildwoods.

The North Wildwood, Wildwood and Wildwood Crest beaches are all run by their respective municipalities and, thus, would not be affected.

State beaches, parks, recreation areas, forests, camping areas and historic sites could be closed after June 30 (next Saturday) if Governor Phil Murphy and lawmakers do not reach an agreement on a new budget.

At that point, Murphy could opt to shut the government down. It would be up to him what would close.

New Jersey actually has only two state beaches: Cheesequake and Island Beach.

They would be the only beaches to face possible closure if a shutdown were to happen.
