Coastal Flood Warning in effect from 5 am Friday to 2 am Sunday


The National Weather Service has issued a coastal flood warning in effect from 5 a.m. Friday to 2 a.m. Sunday.

Minor flooding is anticipated with the high tides Friday morning and evening. Moderate flooding with spotty major flooding is expected with the high tide Saturday morning.

Moderate flooding is forecast with the high tide for Saturday evening. High tide occurs in the back bay around 8:30 a.m. Fri. and 8:30 p.m.

High tide Saturday occurs around 9 a.m. and 9 p.m. and around 9 a.m. Sunday. Storm surge between 1 to 1.5 feet is forecast for Friday building to 2.5 – 3 feet on Saturday. Numerous roadways are expected to flood and minor to moderate property damage is possible.

A high wind warning is in effect from 11 a.m. Friday until 6 a.m. Saturday. Northwest winds of 25 – 35 mph with gusts to 60 mph are possible. Damaging winds can blow down trees and power lines. Widespread power outages are possible.

Residents are urged to take precautions and make preparations for this coastal storm.


Tonight
Rain likely, mainly before 5am. Patchy fog between 2am and 3am. Otherwise, cloudy, with a low around 38. Light and variable wind becoming west 6 to 11 mph after midnight. Chance of precipitation is 70%. New precipitation amounts between a quarter and half of an inch possible.

Friday
Rain, mainly after 9am. High near 45. Windy, with a northwest wind 17 to 22 mph increasing to 28 to 33 mph in the afternoon. Winds could gust as high as 55 mph. Chance of precipitation is 90%. New precipitation amounts between a quarter and half of an inch possible.

Friday Night
Rain before midnight, then a chance of rain and snow. Low around 36. Windy, with a northwest wind 26 to 32 mph, with gusts as high as 55 mph. Chance of precipitation is 80%. Little or no snow accumulation expected.

Saturday
Partly sunny, with a high near 47. Breezy, with a north wind 21 to 25 mph, with gusts as high as 36 mph.
