Evening forecast: "Severe" storms possible

The National Weather Service in Mt. Holly has issued the following forecast for this evening, Monday, May 19:

* Showers and thunderstorms before 2 a.m., then a chance of showers.

* Some storms could be severe, with damaging winds and heavy rain.

* Low around 72.

* Breezy, with a south wind 17 to 22 mph.

* Chance of precipitation is 100 percent.

* New rainfall amounts between a half and three quarters of an inch possible.
