Crest issues statement on June 25th fire in borough

PRESS RELEASE

At approximately 3:18 p.m. on Sunday, June 25, the Wildwood Crest Police Department received multiple calls of structures fires in the 7100 block of Park Boulevard.

Responding units came upon two residences fully engulfed in flames and smoke upon arrival. The cause of this fire is still under investigation by the Cape May County Fire Marshall.

The borough is relieved to announce there were no injuries to residents or first responders to report.

Wildwood Crest Fire Chief Ron Harwood, Wildwood Crest Police Chief Joseph McGrath and the Board of Commissioners of the Borough of Wildwood Crest wish to express their sincere gratitude to the community and its visitors for their outpouring of concern for the residents who suffered extensive damage to and/or lost their homes and to the fire and rescue personnel who worked tirelessly to fight this aggressive fire.

They would also like to thank the following agencies for their assistance: North Wildwood Fire and Rescue, Wildwood City Fire and Rescue, Erma Fire Company, Rio Grande Fire Company, Townbank Fire Company, Rio Grande Rescue (Middle Township,) AtlantiCare Mobile Response Unit and the Wildwood Crest Department of Public Works.

In addition, all involved in responding to and fighting this fire, have expressed a huge debt of gratitude toward the tireless efforts of the Wildwood Crest Ladies Auxiliary for their care and comfort during this difficult time.
