WILD Weekend: Easter & "The Opening of the Boardwalk," Egg Hunts, Wrestling, and Morey's Piers!


For generations, Easter Weekend has been celebrated as the "unofficial opening" of the Boardwalk (which, of course, never technically closes).

Long gone are the days when hats, suits, dresses and bonnets were the standard, but the tradition continues, with a festive holiday atmosphere.

More and more businesses have been opening in recent weeks, and a good number are expected to welcome guests this weekend - including Mariner's Pier, which will be open on Saturday and Sunday as Morey's Piers kicks off its 47th season of operation.

The weekend will feature plenty to do for the little ones, including three egg hunts.

"War at the Shore" National Wrestling Youth Championships

The weekend events schedule kicks off with "War at the Shore," as over 2,000 wrestlers representing 20 states will grapple for mat supremacy at the Wildwoods Convention Center.

Competitions take place 8 am - 10 p.m. on Friday and 8 am - 6 pm on Saturday. Admission is $10 for adults, $5 for students 6 and older, and under 6 are free.

Morey's Piers Opening Weekend / Easter Celebration

The iconic Giant Wheel, Sea Serpent, Wave Swinger and other favorites will be back in action, as Mariner's Pier opens for the season on Saturday, noon - 6 pm.

Sunday will feature the annual Easter Celebration, from noon - 5 pm.

The Easter Bunny will great guests at the Parent's Pavilion, while stilt walkers and jugglers entertain. Face painting will be available from 1 - 5 pm, and children 12 and under can pick an Easter egg for a chance to win prizes.

One of the Wildwoods' favorite treats, Curley's Fries - at both Mariner's AND Surfside Pier (26th Street) - will also make its season debut. Open Friday, Saturday and Sunday.

Easter Egg Hunts!


Elks Annual Easter Egg Hunt

The Elks Annual Easter Egg Hunt will be held on the beach at 19th Avenue in North Wildwood at noon on Saturday. Children 11 and under can pick up eggs and collect prizes. FREE event.

Greater Wildwood Jaycees Easter Egg Hunt


The Greater Wildwood Jaycees Annual Easter Egg Hunt will be held on the beach at Lincoln Avenue in Wildwood at noon on Saturday.

Children ages 1-12 are invited to dig for eggs buried in the sand.

Each egg contains a toy and a golden egg is worth a bigger prize.

Event is FREE. Rain date is Sunday.

Ed's Funcade Easter Egg Hunt in the Hay

Ed's Funcade will host its annual Easter Egg Hunt in the Hay on Sunday, on the Boardwalk at 23rd Avenue. Kids under 12 can win prizes, from noon - 1:30 pm.
