Over 700 take the plunge to honor Fallen Heroes


This morning's Fallen Hero Polar Bear Plunge drew a large, enthusiastic crowd - and a likely record-setting participation mark - to 15th Street Beach.

According to North Wildwood Recreation & Tourism, the event sold all of the 700 bracelets on hand and gave out tickets to additional registrants.

Proceeds from the plunge, hosted by Keenan's Irish Pub, will benefit the families of police officers lost in the line of duty. Official figures are pending.

Temperature at the time of the plunge was 26 degrees F, with the ocean temperature at a FRIGID 30 degrees.
