Flow House: Splash Zone Water Park's $2 million expansion for 2013

After months of speculation about a "major addition," Splash Zone Water Park (Boardwalk & Schellenger Ave.) has announced a $2 million expansion for this season called Flow House.

Currently taking shape on the south side of Boardwalk Central, along the Oak Avenue extension, Flow House will be "a cool new place to hang out, listen to music, eat, and surf..."

What a minute... surf?!

That's right, the centerpiece of Flow House will be the FlowRider Double wave simulator, the first of its kind in the Wildwoods.

Developed by California-based Wave Loch, the attraction will offer virtual surfers endless waves across a 40-foot inclined layout.

Flow House, Splash Zone's single most expensive investment since the water park opened in 2000, is expected to debut Memorial Day Weekend.

UPDATE:  The following photos of Flow House's progress were taken on Easter Sunday afternoon...
