Wildwood Crest Accepting Bids for Beach Ice Cream Vending

PRESS RELEASE

The Borough of Wildwood Crest has paved the way for ice cream vending on its beaches beginning in the summer of 2013.

The borough’s Board of Commissioners, at its regular bimonthly meeting on Feb. 27, authorized by resolution the placement of a legal advertisement of notice to bidders for the rental of an ice cream beach concession. Sealed bids must be furnished on March 21 at 10 a.m. in the municipal courtroom located at Wildwood Crest Borough Hall.

According to the official bid specifications, the minimum bid for the ice cream beach concession is $100,000 for the season of 2013 and $110,000 for the season of 2014. The term of the contract is from May 1, 2013 through Dec. 31, 2014.

Bid specifications state that ice cream products may be offered on the beaches of the borough in six zones spanning the entire length of the borough from Cresse to Jefferson avenues.

The concessionaire will be permitted to have a maximum of 12 employees working per day, two per zone, whether the sales are executed at a concession station or by employees walking the beach peddling ice cream sales.

The beach concessionaire will be responsible for all equipment and fixtures and will be responsible for any temporary structure, station, box or cabinet in each zone, subject to final approval of the Wildwood Crest Board of Commissioners.

The sale of ice cream and ice cream products will be subject to all reasonable regulations imposed by the Wildwood Crest Police Department and the Cape May County Health Department.

Copies of both the resolution and bid specifications are on file and available at the office of the borough clerk.
