I didn't even realize that there were privately owned sections, and how far back the purchase of certain Boardwalk properties included claims to adjacent beach areas.
The article also reenforces the stances of neighboring North Wildwood and Wildwood Crest, which have no plans to pursue beach tag implementation at this time.
Wildwood residents will go to the polls on Thursday, March 5th to decide whether a beach tags system will be implemented this year.
bad idea... will change the whole perspective of love those wildwood days.... don't try to fix something that's not broken.. Don't get greedy..

DeleteDon't copy Cape May! Families save all year to vacation for a week or two in Wildwood. Expenses for many are very tight and now you want a beach tag system! You are taking away a beach experience for some families. There are fewer motels and more condos of which less pools exist. That means more people wish to use the beach. Wildwood is a beautiful beach and becomes a relaxed and enjoyable time for families. Don't take that away by invoking a tag system. Besides dividing up the 3 mile stretch of beach would be ludicrous.

ReplyDeleteThat is what keeps Wildwood seperate from the other shore towns. Free beaches, the best boardwalk and food... Don't fix something thats not broken. You already charge a tourism tax!!!
ReplyDeleteJust because someone owns a house "on the beach", does NOT mean they OWN that part of the beach, they may own the house, BUT NOBODY owns the beach! I would NEVER pay to sit on the beach, nor should I HAVE to! I pay thousands of dollars each year to vacation in Wildwood...DON'T PUSH IT WILDWOOD! Don't get greedy! Sooo tired of being nickel &dimed dimed!!!
