Now, it's a waiting game...

The 4 p.m. deadline for evacuation has passed, and while some have stayed behind to ride out the storm, the island is largely deserted.

As evening approaches, we have a light but steady rain and wind gusts up to 25 mph kicking in from the northeast. All is generally quiet... for now.

Still over 24 hours away from what is expected to be the brunt of Hurricane Sandy's wrath, areas of the Wildwoods experienced mild to moderate tidal flooding and beach erosion today.

Waves reportedly washed over the seawall at 2nd & JFK during high tide this morning, an area that is said to be 18 feet above sea level.
