Thousands of Motorcycles Thunder into the Wildwoods During 'Roar to the Shore'

The Wildwoods welcomes motorcycle riders and enthusiasts from all over the east coast to the five-mile island Thu., Sept. 8 through Sun., Sept. 11 for the resort’s annual Roar to the Shore motorcycle rally.

The four-day Motorcycle Rally will feature vendor areas containing hundreds of top-of-the-line merchants offering everything from pin-striping for your bike, souvenirs and new leather, to eye protection and fine cigars.

Merchants will be spread across five separate vending areas, located at the Wildwoods Convention Center’s parking lots and all along Oak and Atlantic Avenues in downtown Wildwood.

Vendor areas open at 10 a.m. on Thurs., Sept. 8 and at 9 a.m. Friday through Sun., Sept. 9-11 and will also include demo rides on the three-wheeled Can-Am Spyder Roadster; as well as tours of the Jack Daniels Experience – a mobile Jack Daniels museum, and meet-and-greets with this year’s Grand Marshal of the Rubber Duck Ride: Animal Planet’s The Pit Boss, Shorty Rossi.


Roar to the Shore 2011 will also feature free live musical entertainment from Kathouse – an all-female rock cover band. Kathouse will perform on Sat., Sept. 10 from noon-4 p.m. at the vendor areas at the Wildwoods Convention Center’s parking lots.

Up-and-coming rock band, The Groove, will perform live from 10 a.m.- 4 p.m. on Sun., Sept. 11. Other ongoing entertainment taking place during the rally includes the Lucky Daredevil Thrill Show inside the Wildwoods Convention Center and ‘adult’ comedienne Suzanne Austin at the Casba Comedy Club, located at 3810 Atlantic Avenue in Wildwood, on Fri., Sept. 9 at 10:30 p.m. and Sat., Sept. 10 at 8 p.m. and 10:30 p.m. Tickets are $15 and can be purchased by calling 609-522-8444.

Roar to the Shore will also include classic events such as a Friday gathering at Bolero Hotel and ride to Kindle Ford for a Pig Roast that leaves from the Wildwoods at noon; a FREE Walking Poker Run on Saturday at noon, a Biker Babe Contest on Sat. at 7 p.m.; and Sunday’s Rubber Duck Boardwalk Ride and 2011 Harley Davidson 1200 Custom Sportster Give Away at 12:30 p.m. starting at the southern end of the Wildwoods Boardwalk and ending at the Wildwoods Convention Center. Roar to the Shore will commemorate the 10th anniversary of 9/11 by dedicating the Boardwalk Ride to all of the men and women who were impacted by the Sept. 11 tragedy.

A small ceremony will be held at Fox Park, across the street from the Wildwoods Convention Center, on Sun., Sept. 11 at 8 a.m. to honor all of those who lost their lives as a result of the tragedy on Sept. 11 2001. Following the ceremony, the procession will head down to the waters edge where everyone will stretch across the Wildwoods beaches and observe a moment of silence at approximately the time the towers fell.

The 2nd Annual Wildwood Tattoo Beach Bash will be held in conjunction with Roar to the Shore, from Fri., Sept. 9 through Sun., Sept. 11, inside the Wildwoods Convention Center. The Tattoo Beach Bash will host over 85 major national tattoo artists, as well as activities including: tattoo contests, a traveling tattoo museum, seminars, art exhibits, door prizes and more. Celebrity tattoo artist Tim Hendricks from TLC's New York Ink will be in attendance at the event. Also, be sure to check out the rarely seen Japanese Hand Method of Tebori Tattooing on display.
