Voting for "NJ's Top 10 Beaches" opens today

Hard to believe it's that time of year already, isn't it?

Voting opens at noon today for the fourth annual New Jersey's Top 10 Beaches survey!

As you may recall, the Wildwoods are the defending champion, having also won the inaugural poll in 2008. Ocean City took top honors in 2009.

In a likely nod to Cape May County's dominance over the first three years of voting, this year's survey is being expanded. In addition to an overall winner, a "best beach" designation will also be awarded to the top vote-getters in each of the state's four coastal counties - Atlantic, Ocean, and Monmouth, in addition to CMC.

Overall, 48 shore communities will be represented in the poll, from Sandy Hook down to Cape May. This year, voters have the opportunity to vote for their favorites in three categories - Family Vacation, Day Trips, and Ecotourism.

The results of the voting will be revealed during the New Jersey Sea Grant Consortium's annual State of the Shore Media Event on Thursday May 26, 2011, just before the Memorial Day weekend and the unofficial start of the summer season.

In addition, this year marks the debut of the New Jersey's Top 10 Beaches Photo Contest. For complete submission guidelines, click HERE.
