Celebrating 50 years of "The Twist"

This weekend's seventh annual Fabulous '50s Weekend is, appropriately, celebrating the 50th anniversary of Chubby Checker's introduction of "The Twist."

The dance craze that swept the nation was first performed at the famous Rainbow Club at Pacific & Spencer Avenue in 1960.

Tonight, Checker will headline the Fabulous '50s Concert at the Wildwoods Convention Center, adding yet another chapter to the island's famed (and way-to-often-overlooked) musical legacy.

Here's to the unquestioned "King of the Dance Craze" and one of the all-time great legends of rock n' roll...
