Standing Ovation opens nationwide today

If you've spent any time up on the Boardwalk this year, surely you've noticed the many ads for the movie "Standing Ovation," particularly on the sun shelters south of Schellenger Avenue.

The film, which includes various scenes shot in the Wildwoods and other South Jersey shore towns in 2008 and 2009, opens in theaters nationwide today.

A local red carpet premier is set for tonight at the Rio Theatres in neighboring Rio Grande, NJ.

The story centers around five junior high school friends competing in a national music video contest. Among the producers is longtime movie and television star James Brolin, who has been very active in promoting the film.

"Standing Ovation" features a cast of 50 - including many local talents - performing 10 original songs and 13 new choreographed dance routines.

In addition to the Wildwoods, scenes were shot on location in Ocean City, Cape May, and at Lower Cape May Regional High School.

The film's official trailer features several familiar Boardwalk scenes...
