Wildwood ponders later closing time for bars, clubs

According to Joe Hart of the Cape May County Herald, Wildwood city commissioners introduced a measure last night that would push back the closing time for bars and nightclubs from to 4 a.m.

The current 3 a.m. closing law has been in place since 1997.

The idea to extend service hours, initiated by the Wildwood Beverage Association, is to give a boost to struggling businesses, primarily along the Pacific Avenue strip in downtown.

The panel introduced the change on first reading. Second reading and public hearing on the measure is set for the next commissioners meeting on June 23.
