Work began yesterday on a project to fill areas of the beach in North Wildwood that were depleted during a series of storms this past winter.
The areas around 2nd & 3rd Avenues are being addressed first, with 50,000 cubic yards of sand for replenishment. The second stage will focus on the beach between 11th & 22nd Aves.
The third stage - between 22nd & 26th Aves. - figures to be the most tricky, as the dunes within that stretch need to be completely rebuilt. At present, there is no bathing beach there during high tide.
The project is expected to move quickly, with the goal being to have all work done before the Fourth of July.
