The Wildwoods received some great news today, on the eve of the unofficial kick-off to summer.
The island's beaches have been named the best in New Jersey, in a public survey completed this spring by the New Jersey Marine Sciences Consortium (NJMSC).
This marks the second time in three years the Wildwoods have taken top honors, having finished first in the inaugural poll in 2008. Ocean City finished first last year.
The Wildwoods - comprising North Wildwood, Wildwood, and Wildwood Crest - reportedly earned an approximate 23,000 votes. Ocean City was the runner-up, accumulated roughly 9,000 votes.
In other words, it wasn't even close.
Thanks to all of our readers who contributed their votes, and helped the Wildwoods regain this prestigious honor!
Been going to Wildwood for approx. 50 yrs. now and they are the nicest beaches and the cleanest. The Wildwoods have always taken great pride in their beaches and people who visit need to help by picking up after themselves, if they want to continue enjoying the free sea and sand of the Wildwoods!!!! CONGRATULATIONS!!!!!
