Steven Shearer, who had been serving as assistant superintendent of the department for the past 12 ½
years, was officially elevated to superintendent in late April.
Shearer brings vast experience to the position. As assistant superintendent, he helped oversee all
operations of the Wildwood Crest Department of Public Works, during his tenure.
Shearer is certified as a Public Works Manager. He also serves the Borough of Wildwood Crest as its
Safety Coordinator, Clean Communities Coordinator, Certified Pool Operator and Right To Know
Coordinator.
“Steve has been the assistant superintendent of our public works management team for the past 12 ½
years, so he has the kind of extensive knowledge, skills, training and experience needed to oversee the
department as superintendent,” said Don Cabrera, Wildwood Crest Mayor and Commissioner of Public
Works.
“I’m confident Steve will continue to be an asset to not only the Department of Public Works, but
also to the Wildwood Crest community at large. I know he will do his best to make sure the Department of
Public Works continues to serve our residents and visitors to the best of its ability.”
Shearer came to the Borough of Wildwood Crest after serving as the Director of Operations for Seapointe
Village Realty Co. for 17 years.
A resident of Wildwood, Shearer holds bachelor’s and master’s degrees in business administration from
California University of Pennsylvania. He previously volunteered as a youth wrestling coach and a Little
League baseball coach in the Wildwood Crest community.
“I’m excited about the opportunity to continue with and finish my career with Wildwood Crest,” Shearer
said. “I truly would like to thank the borough administration and commissioners for their faith and
confidence in me. I’ll do my best to work tirelessly to improve the service provided by the Department of
Public Works and commit to serving the residents and visitors of Wildwood Crest.”
Shearer replaces Joseph Bond as the Superintendent of Public Works. Bond retired from the position
earlier this spring.
