THE WILDWOODS - The Wildwoods officially start the summer season, with tourism, state, county and city officials, dignitaries, guest speakers and the island's second grade students scheduled to officially "unlock" the ocean on Friday, May 24 at noon.
The Unlocking of the Ocean Ceremony takes place simultaneously with the annual International Kite Festival - the largest Kite Festival in North America!
A colorful, kite-filled sky will serve as the backdrop while invited dignitaries and more than 100 elementary school children participate in the ceremonious "unlocking" of the ocean for the 2024 summer season, using an oversized, ornate "W" key.
