PRESS RELEASE

THE WILDWOODS - The Wildwoods are renowned for its pristine five-mile stretch of free beaches, named "Best Beaches in New Jersey" by USA Today. While specific beaches in North Wildwood have faced challenges with erosion, it is imperative to highlight that this issue does not cast a shadow over the entire resort's coastline.

The majority of the Wildwoods' shoreline stands resilient and unaffected, with certain areas even witnessing beach growth, further enhancing the allure of the destination. Officials are actively implementing ongoing measures to combat erosion, demonstrating a commitment to preserving the natural beauty that defines the Wildwoods, ensuring a sustainable and enjoyable experience for all.

"The Wildwoods beaches attract millions of visitors every year and have done so for generations of families from all over the Northeaster U.S. While we are currently witnessing Mother Nature working on the beaches in North Wildwood, there are still miles of the widest beaches in the U.S. for our visitors to lay down a blanket, set up a chair, put up an umbrella and enjoy the beach as they always have," explained Louis M. Belasco, Greater Wildwood Tourism & Improvement Development Authority (GWTIDA) Executive Director.

The beaches are the perfect spot for swimming, soaking up the sun and relaxing on a hot summer day. For those looking for some adventure, the Wildwoods' beaches also serve as an ideal location for surfing, boogie boarding, paddle boarding, power boating, jet skiing, sailing, kayaking and whale and dolphin watching.

The best part is that the beaches are absolutely FREE to enjoy with no beach tags required.

Beach Replenishment Projects: A Commitment to Environmental Preservation

In the face of erosion challenges, the Wildwoods have embarked on beach replenishment projects that play a pivotal role in protecting and preserving coastal ecosystems. These initiatives not only safeguard habitats for marine life, birds and plants but also serve as a natural barrier against storms, reducing the impacts of coastal flooding and erosion.

Maintaining healthy beaches through replenishment creates a crucial buffer zone that absorbs wave energy, minimizing the risk of damage to coastal communities and infrastructure during storms. This protective shield extends to coastal properties, including homes, hotels and businesses in the Wildwoods, enhancing property values and ensuring the long-term stability of coastal communities.

Replenished beaches offer more than just protection; they provide increased public access to coastal areas, fostering opportunities for recreation, relaxation and the enjoyment of nature. These accessible beaches promote physical and mental well-being, offering spaces for families, individuals and communities to connect with nature and each other.

"The Wildwoods remain steadfast in its commitment to environmental stewardship and sustainable solutions, ensuring that future generations can continue to experience the unparalleled beauty of its beloved beaches," said Belasco.

Throughout the season, the Wildwoods' beaches also host several events, including championship soccer, lacrosse and hockey tournaments, the National Marbles Championships, monster truck races, motocross races, sand sculpting festivals, headline concerts, the Wildwoods International Kite Festival and so much more.
