NORTH WILDWOOD - Mayor Patrick Rosenello announced that on May 1, 2024, Police Captain Katherine Madden will be sworn in as the 14th Police Chief of the North Wildwood Police Department (NWPD). With Captain Madden's upcoming promotion, she will be the first female Police Chief in NWPD history.
Captain Madden began her career with the NWPD in 2006 as a SLEO II. She was hired as a full-time officer in 2007 and has served in numerous assignments since then. Captain Madden is a lifelong resident of North Wildwood, attending Margaret Mace Elementary School and Wildwood Catholic High School before attending Rutgers University.
Captain Madden is the daughter of retired North Wildwood Police Sergeant Thomas Flounders. She is currently in Quantico, VA attending the FBI National Academy.
Captain Madden will be replacing retiring Police Chief John Stevenson.
"The level of dedication Captain Madden has shown not only to residents and visitors of North Wildwood, but also her colleagues within the department has been extraordinary," said Mayor Patrick Rosenello. "We look forward to making city history and swearing Captain Madden in as the first female police chief in our department.
Arrangements for the swearing-in ceremony will be announced at a later date.
