THE WILDWOODS - Avast, my hearties! The notorious privateer Captain William Kidd has been spotted off the shores of the Wildwoods aboard his Adventure Galley and is rumored to have hidden his treasure in North Wildwood.
To uncover the loot, North Wildwood Recreation & Tourism will be holding Captain Kidd Pirate Day, complete with a parade, treasure hunt and bonfire on Saturday, May 20, 2023.
All children ages 12 and under are invited to wear their best pirate-themed apparel and participate in a free parade of brave buccaneers and swashbuckling scallywags to where "X" marks the spot on the 19th Street beach.
Check-in, lineup and judging of costumes will take place at 26th & Boardwalk at 10 am. Costume judging is at 10:45 am. At 11 am, the parade will proceed down the Boardwalk to 19th & the beach, where Captain Kidd is said to have buried his famous treasure.
Aaaarrrr! Ready for more fun? The Captain Kidd Bonfire will take place at 1st & Surf Avenue at Inlet Beach. This family friendly event is hosted by the North Wildwood Volunteer Fire Company #1. Enjoy family fun, music and more from 6 - 9:30 pm.
Captain Kidd will be on-site and available for photos from 6 - 8 pm. Admission is $10 for adults and $2 for children under 12.
So, come out, bring your matey's and enjoy playing pirate for the day!
