Krispy Krunchy Chicken coming to Downtown Wildwood

A positive sign, as we continue into what is hoped to be the final stages of the pandemic, is the present volume of commercial activity in the Wildwoods.

Several new businesses are popping up along the Downtown/Pacific Avenue corridor, in particular, while a handful of major redevelopment projects are in the works.

In other words, confidence in the area’s future appears to be growing, boding well for the coming season, and beyond.

This week, we learned that the retail chain Krispy Krunchy Chicken plans to open soon at 3115 Pacific Avenue, at the former home of Center City Video Outlet.

This will be an expansion of the Krispy Krunchy Chicken location in Cape May Court House, by the owners of nearby Pizza Heaven. Both restaurants opened last summer.

As the name suggests, Krispy Krunchy Chicken’s menu features a variety of chicken options (sandwiches, tenders) with a “perfectly Cajun” blend, along with fried shrimp, fried fish, corn dogs and an assortment of sides.

According to its website, Krispy Krunchy Chicken was established in 1989, and is one of the fastest-growing “quick-serve restaurants” (QSR’s) in the country, now boasting approximately 2,600 locations in 47 states.

QSR’s have emerged with the success of brands like Domino’s and Subway, which feature focused menus and generally simple interiors, with a counter for ordering and pick-up.

We are awaiting word as to whether the Wildwood restaurant will have interior seating, and what the operating schedule will look like beyond the summer months.
