Wildwood Crest’s Von Savage Pool to remain closed, interior work commences

PRESS RELEASE

WILDWOOD CREST – The Joseph Von Savage Memorial Pool in Wildwood Crest will remain closed until further notice as per Executive Order 153 released by New Jersey Governor Phil Murphy earlier this month.

The executive order allows for the opening of outdoor swimming pool facilities only on Monday, June 22. Indoor pool facilities must remain closed at this time.

An interior improvement project is also scheduled to commence this week. Work includes renovations of the common restroom located between the men’s and women’s locker rooms through a New Jersey Department of Community Affairs Small Cities Program grant.

This work will make the restroom compliant to Americans With Disabilities Act (ADA) standards. Improvements consist of replacing the restroom sink, toilet, wall tile, lighting and flooring.

In addition, the borough is also replacing the floor surface of both the men’s and women’s locker rooms through an alternate bid.

The project is expected to take four to seven weeks to complete, with much of the work planned for during the current shutdown of the pool facility due to Executive Order 153. Work is not expected to interfere with day-to-day pool operations if the facility is permitted to open prior to the project’s completion.
