Wildwood and North Wildwood update COVID restrictions


PRESS RELEASE 

Wildwood and North Wildwood – Wildwood Mayor Pete Byron and North Wildwood Mayor Patrick Rosenello announced today updates to the previously enacted restrictions that have been placed on Short Term Rentals, Beaches & Boardwalks in the North Wildwood and Wildwood.

At this time the Cities of Wildwood and North Wildwood are announcing modifications to these orders. These new orders replace and supersede the previous orders and will be in place beginning May 8, 2020.

1. Short Term Rentals: Shall be permitted commencing May 26, 2020. Hotels and Motels shall be restricted to 60% of their capacity until June 21, 2020. Commencing June 22, 2020, Hotels and Motels shall be permitted to rent up to 100% of their capacity. A short-term rental for the purpose of this order is any rental of less than 30 days.

Exceptions:
o Any exception listed in the NJOEM Administrative Order 2020-8;
o Rentals to employees of any Municipal, County, State or Federal Agency seeking housing in conjunction with their official duties;
o Rentals to employee of essential businesses seeking housing in conjunction with their official duties.

2. Public Beaches: Effective May 8, 2020 all public beaches are open subject to the orders of the Governor which state in part:
“Walking, running, operating a wheelchair, or engaging in outdoor activities with immediate family members, caretakers, household members, or romantic partners while following best social distancing practices with other individuals, including staying six feet apart. When in public, individuals must practice social distancing and stay six feet apart whenever practicable, excluding immediate family members, caretakers, household members, or romantic partners.”

3. Boardwalk: Effective May 8, 2020 the Wildwoods Boardwalk will open subject to the orders of the Governor which state in part:

When in public, individuals must practice social distancing and stay six feet apart whenever practicable, excluding immediate family members, caretakers, household members, or romantic partners.”

4. Parks/Playgrounds: Effective May 8, 2020 Municipal Parks and Playgrounds will open. Playground equipment will remain closed.

5. Social Distancing: Persons engaging in any of the activities described above are reminded that all such activities are still subject to any additional restrictions put in place by the State of New Jersey. In addition, all activities described above are expressly permitted while individuals are practicing proper social distancing.
