Morey’s Piers will not open for Memorial Day Weekend

In an email to season pass holders this afternoon, Morey’s Piers confirmed that it will not be able to open for Memorial Day Weekend.

The news follows an updated set of COVID-19 restrictions announced by New Jersey Governor Phil Murphy, which includes keeping all amusement rides, arcades and games in the state closed, effective Friday May 22.

On the positive side, the letter announced that the Curley’s Fries location at Surfside Pier (25th Avenue) will open for takeout on Memorial Day Weekend.

Additionally, Morey’s Hotels and Resorts will begin welcoming guests on Monday, June 1, with updated cleaning and sanitation protocols in place at the Starlux Boutique and Blue Palms Resort in Wildwood and the Pan American Hotel and Port Royal Hotel in Wildwood Crest.

Morey’s Piers was originally scheduled to open over Easter Weekend, with Opening Day at Mariner’s Pier (Schellenger Avenue) on April 11. The target date was pushed to Mother’s Day Weekend, and again to Memorial Day Weekend, as the early stages of the pandemic crisis unfolded.

At this time, there is no word on when current restrictions will be revisited.

In the letter to season pass members, second generation partners Will and Jack Morey strike an optimistic tone:

“We know that our plans are not what you expected for your summer at Morey’s Piers. You can be sure that they are not what we expected either. Our goal is to provide flexible options and additional value for you and your family.

“We are working diligently to be in a position to offer you a strong line-up of rides and attractions for 2020 and, of course, the return to full operations in 2021.”
