Doo Wop Drive-In set to open (for takeout) this Friday, May 22nd

The circumstances may not be ideal, but a date has been set for one of the island’s most anticipated debuts in recent memory.

This Friday, May 22, the Doo Wop Drive-In will open for takeout and curbside pickup at 6200 New Jersey Avenue in Wildwood Crest.

Breakfast and lunch will be served from 7 am to 2 pm daily, with hours increasing over the coming weeks.

(Full menu available HERE; guests can place orders at 609-305-4807.)

Owners Jason Kramer and Bryan Grant took over the former home of Tony Luke’s earlier this year, after operating the Doo Wop Coffee Shop at the Tangiers Motel since 2005.

A dramatic, months-long transformation produced the desired result: a sleek, modern entity with the authentic feel of a 1950’s diner, inside and out.

“The time had come for something bigger and better,” Kramer told Wildwood 365 back in March. “We found the perfect location and the perfect building, with parking, for everything we envisioned.”

When the Doo Wop Drive-In is able to welcome dine-in guests, it will comfortably seat approximately 100 people - double the capacity of the Doo Wop Coffee Shop. The spacious dining and kitchen areas will allow for an expanded menu and more service options, including breakfast delivery and dinner.

This summer, in the parking area, FREE movies will be shown (drive-in style!) with snacks and drinks. No purchase necessary. And eventually, “dinner and a movie under the stars” (details coming soon).

“We pride ourselves on unique creations, quality and innovation,” said Kramer. “I can promise we’ll never be boring. This will be a place where families can enjoy a great meal in a great atmosphere, where we’ll always be consistently consistent and go beyond our guests’ expectations!”
