Amid coronavirus concerns, the 2020 Erin Express has been cancelled.
The annual pub tour was slated for this Saturday, March 14.
The decision comes just hours after North Wildwood made the call to cancel its St. Patrick’s Day Celebration & Parade.
The two events, though run separately, are traditionally held on the Saturday closest to St. Patrick’s Day (which falls on Tuesday this year).
“After consultation with experts, elected officials, and participating bars, Coastal Broadcasting Systems Inc. has cancelled the Erin Express Pub Crawl scheduled for Saturday, March 14th due to concerns regarding the coronavirus,” Coastal Broadcasting President Robert Maschio said in a statement.
“We are grateful not only for the guidance provided by health and government experts, but we remain grateful for the support of our local establishments who support this decision. The safety and well being of our residents and visitors remains everyone's primary focus and concern, and it is best to hold this event without the public's concerns over coronavirus.
“In 2021 we will all raise a glass together during the very best Erin Express in Cape May County history!”
