With Boardwalk repairs confirmed, Tram Cars will again travel end-to-end in 2020

Funding for structural repairs to the Boardwalk have been secured, ensuring that end-to-end Sightseer Tram Car service will resume this year.

In coordination with the City of Wildwood and the Greater Wildwood Tourism Improvement & Development Authority (GWTIDA), the Wildwoods Boardwalk Special Improvement District (WBID) announced this morning that approximately $320,000 has been allocated to rehab a three-block section of the promenade between Rio Grande and Burk Avenues.

The area was open to pedestrian traffic only toward the end of the 2019 season, with the Tram Cars' southern service terminating at the Wildwoods Convention Center.

Work is scheduled to begin in early March and will take approximately one month to complete, plenty of time before the 2020 season kicks into gear.

Earlier this year, WBID announced that the Tram Cars' one-way fare was increasing from $3.50 to $4.00 for the coming season, citing the recent increase in the NJ State Minimum Wage.
