On Deck: Special Olympics Polar Bear Plunge

The 2020 Special Olympics Polar Bear Plunge, set for this Saturday, January 11 on the beach behind the Wildwoods Convention Center, will look to eclipse all previous records.

Last year, nearly 1,000 participants braved the bone-chilling waters of the Atlantic, helping raise over $320,000 for the athletes of Special Olympics NJ.

That figure brought the 13-year total raised by the event to over $3.2 million!

With less than a week to go before the event, over $200,000 has been raised toward a total goal of $400,000. Funds support training and competition for more than 25,000 athletes of SONJ.

Registration begins at the Wildwoods Convention Center at 10 am. The Plunge is set for 1 pm.

The event is free to spectators.
