The Race of Gentlemen Adds Thursday Swap Meet to Event Weekend

Vendors will offer parts for sale and swap at Fox Park, Thursday through Friday!

PRESS RELEASE

WILDWOOD, NJ
- The Race of Gentlemen returns to Wildwood October 3rd through 6th this year, with even more thrills and chills. A newly added swap meet will provide TROG attendees the opportunity to shop and swap USA vintage automobile and motorcycle parts at Fox Park. The swap meet will start on Thursday, October 3rd. Vendors are now being accepted through the Race of Gentlemen website.

The swap meet adds to the already busy weekend of The Race of Gentlemen. Fox Park will be open from 10 AM to 6 PM on Thursday and will continue into Friday starting at 10 AM. Vendors must be pre-approved, there are no same day vendor sign-ups. After the meet on Friday, the weekend continues with the Night of Troglodytes at the Binn’s Motel, Saturday is exhibition racing followed by a bonfire on the beach in the evening, and Sunday is the final day of racing which is a bracket race. Post event party details to come!

By moving TROG to the off season, the event coordinators and the City hope to accentuate Wildwood’s off-season to create an even better event. The addition of the Thursday event provides an opportunity for attendees to come to town even earlier to visit other attractions, dine at area restaurants, and stay longer at local motels.

While the Race of Gentlemen takes place on the beach, the swap meet adds another location at Fox Park to spread attendees around Wildwood. Mayor Ernie Troiano Jr. knows the addition of Fox Park on Thursday will be beneficial to the City.

“The swap meet will ease the difficult task of finding the very specific-natured equipment for these vehicles, and will add to the culture of this unique group of individuals,” said Troiano. “This addition will bring in people who may not normally attend The Race of Gentlemen or even visit Wildwood, including collectors and hobbyists, adding to the visitor totals of Wildwood’s successful off-season.”

The swap meet is free to enter, and advance tickets are suggested for the races. Tickets are $50 for the weekend, and are on sale now through theraceofgentlemen.com. Day passes will be available onsite for Saturday or Sunday.

About TROG

TROG isn’t an invention. It’s been happening well before our founders were born, but now it has a name and a place in the foreground of modern culture. TROG taps into something primal and emotional. An escape from an impressively mundane world, offering mechanical reprieve from its backlit, binary grip. TROG events are real, jarring and built on the strongest, sappiest foundation of all... friendship. A weekend retreat with late nights and early mornings, where you laugh and yell and experience nature in the strangest possible way. A reminder that most admirable aspects of humanity have yet to die off.

About The Oilers Club

Founded by Jim Nelson in Southern California over 65 years ago, The Oilers Club, was a small group of thrill-seeking friends that built and raced hot rods and motorcycles using outdated pre-WWII era chassis, bodies, motors and parts. In 2010, the keys to the club were handed to Meldon Van Riper Stultz III, a Jersey Shore native who, with his colorful crew of vintage car and motorcycle revivalists, now stage these rolling exhibitions at historically significant locations across the country.
