Hatchet throwing - yes, hatchet throwing! - coming to the Boardwalk

Do you have an axe to grind? A hatchet to bury?

Well, you're in luck!

Flying Hatchets is set to debut this Spring at 4004 Boardwalk, bringing the axe tossing/hatchet throwing phenomenon to the Wildwoods for the first time.

The attraction is presently under development next door to XD Dark Ride, the interactive, cinematic shoot-em-up, and Cloak & Dagger Escape Rooms, which premiered last summer to rave reviews.

All three ventures are owned and operated by MSquared Productions, which now boasts a verifiable boardwalk entertainment center, just south of Spencer Avenue (directly across from Morey's Adventure Pier).

"We're beyond excited to bring another first to the Wildwoods Boardwalk with Flying Hatchets," owner/manager Brian Martin told Wildwood 365. "The hatchet throwing craze has really caught on around the country and will be a great fit here. It's an absolute blast, and an ideal outing for groups."

Martin, who also operates a Flying Hatchets venue in Hamilton, NJ, emphasized safety as his top priority, and confirmed that entry will be permitted only to those 16 years of age and older.

(Both XD Dark Ride and Cloak & Dagger Escape Rooms, meanwhile, carry no age restrictions.)

Hatchet throwing is essentially an activity where participants throw an axe at a target, attempting to hit the bull's-eye or as close as possible.

What began as a sport and staple of lumberjack-related competitions evolved into contests of leisure (similar to darts) at fairs and festivals throughout the U.S., Canada and the United Kingdom. Over the past few years, commercial locations have found success around the world.
