Crest seeks volunteers for International Coastal Cleanup event, Sept. 16th

PRESS RELEASE

WILDWOOD CREST – The Borough of Wildwood Crest is in need of volunteers of all ages to help keep the community’s beaches clean, safe and among the best in the state.

The Borough’s Department of Public Works, in conjunction with New Jersey Clean Communities and Ocean Conservancy, will host an International Coastal Cleanup event on the Crest’s beaches and dunes on Saturday, September 16, from 9 a.m. to 12 noon.

Volunteers should register at Centennial Park, located at Fern Road and Ocean Avenue, or in advance by emailing Kay Sagal of the Wildwood Crest Department of Public Works at ksagal@wildwoodcrest.org.

The event will be held rain or shine. Volunteers should wear weather appropriate clothing. Equipment will be provided by the Wildwood Crest Department of Public Works.

This cleanup will be extremely helpful to the Borough’s already intensive efforts to keep its vast expanse of beaches clean. Participants are also encouraged to inquire about the borough’s Adopt-A-Beach program.

According to www.njclean.org, the International Coastal Cleanup collected more than 18 million pounds of trash worldwide last year, the most ever collected in the event’s history, with the help of more than 500,000 volunteers covering over 15,000 miles of waterfront.

For further information about the International Coastal Cleanup, go to www.njclean.org or www.oceanconservancy.org or call the Wildwood Crest Department of Public Works at 609-522-7446.
