The tradition continues!
Mack's Pizza, a name and taste synonymous with the Wildwood Boardwalk since 1953, opens at 11 a.m. today for its 65th season.
The original Wildwood Avenue pizzeria will serve up pies Friday - Sunday for now, going to an everyday schedule closer to Memorial Day. Mack's other location, 9 blocks south at Roberts Avenue, will open later in the Spring.
One of the Jersey Shore's most enduring institutions, Mack's traces its history to the early-1950's, where Anthony and Lena Macaroni operated a restaurant near the local fairgrounds in Trenton.
To our knowledge, it is the second-oldest business in operation along the famous promenade, behind only Douglass Fudge (opened in 1919). Sam's Pizza Palace is celebrating its 60th anniversary this year. Morey's Piers will turn 50 in 2019.
