Photos: Dredging work in North Wildwood

The accompanying images, all courtesy of Brian Foley, show the dredging work that is underway at the northern end of the North Wildwood beach, as well as some of the results of recent erosion caused by high winds.

The dredging project had been planned prior to damages done to the beach, most significantly between 3rd & 7th Avenues. This includes the 5th Avenue beach ramp, which was once again destroyed.

North Wildwood Mayor Patrick Rosenello told Wildwood 365 last week that, due to the erosion, "this will now be more of a stabilization project than a replenishment, but it will definitely help."

Beach Creek, on the bay side, is being dredged from Hereford Inlet to Maryland Avenue, funneling sand and materials back to the northern beach.

Crews have been working through the weekend and at night.

We will have further updates on the timetable for completion of this project and word on the next step(s) to replenish this area of the beach as they become available...
