Two Street returns to Olde New Jersey: Mummers String Band Weekend is here!

Another longtime staple of the first weekend of the Wildwoods' "Second Season," Mummers String Band Weekend kicks off tonight!

The two-day celebration of colorful signs and sounds officially starts at 7 p.m. with three hours of up-close and personal fun with bands performing at Keenan's Pub, Westy's Irish Pub and Flip-Flopz.

Bands will rotate playing sets inside the pubs and outside on Olde New Jersey Avenue in North Wildwood. This always makes for a fun, carnival-like atmosphere, with bands interacting with patrons, strutting and posing for photos.

Tomorrow's entertainment will begin on the street at 3:30 p.m., featuring the Duffy String Band and the Philadelphia Mummers Chorus.

The Mummers Strut Contest will begin at 4 p.m., featuring parade-goers performing their very best strut for the crowd.

The "main event" of the weekend will be the annual Mummers Parade, starting at 4:45 p.m.

The parade will feature the top nine string bands from this year's New Year's Day Parade in Philadelphia (see list below).

All events are FREE to attend, and offer great opportunities to get up close and personal with these beloved performers, see the brilliant details of their costumes, and pose for photo-ops.
