Futsal Championship Returns to the Wildwoods Convention Center

The United States Futsal Federation will host the Northeast Futsal Regional Championship on Sat., Feb. 18 through Mon., Feb. 20 from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. daily, in the Oceanfront Arena at the Wildwoods Convention Center.

Futsal is a variant of soccer that is played on a smaller area and mainly played indoors. Futsal is played between two teams each with five players, one of whom is the goalkeeper.

Unlimited substitutes per team are permitted. Unlike some other forms of indoor soccer, the game is played on a hard court surface delimited by lines; walls or boards are not used. Futsal is also played with a smaller ball with less bounce than a regular soccer ball.

The rules create an emphasis on improvisation, creativity and technique as well as ball control and passing in small spaces.

Entrance fee will be required and wristbands will be available for purchase at the door.
