As the City of Wildwood's centennial year winds down, it's also worth noting that this Fall marks five years since the the completion of the Boardwalk entry plaza at Ocean & Rio Grande Avenues.
The WILDWOODS sign, which became an instant, contemporary icon for the island, was installed during the Spring of 2007.
Over the past half-decade, the plaza has also become the island's most well known photo op and a popular gathering place for locals and tourists alike.
It's no overstatement to note that it's our version of Los Angeles' famous HOLLYWOOD sign.
To celebrate five years of this landmark, we'd like YOU to submit your pictures of your family and friends at the Wildwood sign.
We've created a Facebook album where we will display everyone's pics. We're hoping to make this our largest public album yet.
Lets see how many we can get!
To share your Wildwood sign pics, simply post on our Facebook page's wall, or include them as an attachment and send to us at wildwood365@gmail.com.
More on THE Sign...
The sign was commissioned by the Greater Wildwood Tourism & Development Authority (GWTIDA) and was designed by Philadelphia-based Stokes Architecture. It's nine-foot tall stainless steel letters are visible for blocks away, particularly on the Rio Grande Ave. entrance boulevard straightaway.
The plaza's unique setting is completed by the use of "beach ball" bollards, stamped concrete, and colorful brick paving.
Great place,good times,life long memories!!!
