Holy Cannoli! Potito's debuts on the Boardwalk

One of the highlights of yesterday's grand opening of Boardwalk Central was the subsequent debut of Potito's Italian American Pastries.

Owners Matt and Cristina Benigno have brought their world class baking and pastry-crafting skills to the Boardwalk with the first expansion of their South Philly location (1614 W. Ritner Street).

The new stand is located right next door to the also-brand new Chickie's & Pete's, along the Cedar Avenue extension.

I had the chance to sample Potito's trademark cannolis at the ribbon-cutting event, and, well... lets just say that there is good reason why they were the talk of the event!

(In case you missed it, the Benignos also created a beautiful cake which depicted images of all of the Boardwalk Central businesses for the occassion. Glad we snapped a few pics, because it sure didn't last long!)

Yet another great addition to the Boardwalk this year (seriously, how long has it been since we've had a quality bakery on the boards?), Potito's offers a wide variety of baked goods, including cakes, cupcakes, cookies, and, um... have we mentioned the cannolis?
