9th Annual Beach Blast Soccer Tournament

The Wildwoods, NJ – June 20, 2011 – The 9th Annual Cape Express Beach Blast Soccer Tournament returns to Morey’s Piers and the surrounding Wildwood beaches on Friday, June 24 through Sunday, June 26.

The Beach Blast tournament will include divisions for 8 to 17 year old boys and girls as well as men, women and co-ed opens and divisions for players over 30 and 40 years old. The barefoot, round robin beach soccer tournament attracts nearly 1,000 teams to the Wildwoods.

“Beach Blast has become a tradition for Morey’s Piers and the Wildwoods, bringing people from all over the Northeast,” said Nick Lassor, Beach Sports Manager. “We look forward to sponsoring this event year after year because it’s become such a major event in the Wildwoods.”

All games will be played on one of many 30 by 40 yard fields set up on the beach. Teams will each play three games consisting of three 12-minute periods with contests starting on the hour (weather and other unforeseen conditions permitting). Teams advancing to the finals will play in a fourth game for their division championship.

Morey’s Piers hosts several youth events in the Wildwoods during the spring and fall shoulder seasons including Beach Scouting, Beach Lacrosse, Beach Soccer, Dance Expo, A Closer Walk Christian Youth Event, and new this year, the Wild Half, a half marathon. Beyond event registration revenues, the Beach Blast soccer event generates an additional $4,000,000 into the surrounding business community.

Due to the popularity of this event and anticipated turnout, event coordinators have scheduled a second event, MORE Beach Blast, for Friday, July 15 through Sunday, July 17. For questions regarding the tournament, visit www.CapeExpress.com or send an e-mail to beachblastsoccer@comcast.net
