Dave "U.S. Male" Goldstein took first place and a $500 prize in the Curley Fry Eating Competition at the 2nd Annual Curley Fry Festival this afternoon. The event was held on the patio at Joe's Fish Co. at Surfside Pier.
An enthusiastic crowd of onlookers watched in awe (and partial disgust) as Goldstein slammed down 3.25 pounds of fries in seven minutes; this included the set five-minute eating period as well as a two-minute "overtime eat-off" against two other hopefuls.
