Today is Flag Day, the annual commemoration of the adoption of the United States flag, which happened on this day in 1777 by resolution of the Second Continental Congress.A ceremonial raising of the flag will take place at the Veterans Monument in North Wildwood (1st & Spruce Ave.) at 10 a.m.
This also marks the first day of the week-long Veterans of Foreign Wars and Ladies Auxiliary Convention. The annual VFW parade is set for 1:30 p.m. on Saturday on Atlantic Ave.
