The Wildwoods will be prominently featured tonight on the Travel Channel's popular Samantha Brown's Great Weekends show. The episode - entitled "The Jersey Shore" - will air at 10:30 p.m. Eastern.In the program, which was filmed back in late June, Brown gets a "Twist" lesson from the legendary Chubby Checker, who introduced the dance craze in Wildwood 50 years ago. (This anniversary, in fact, will be a major focal point of this year's Fabulous '50s celebration in October).
In addition, Brown visits Cool Scoops Ice Cream Parlor in North Wildwood. There, owners Paul and Lori Russo will share their extensive collection of 1950s memorabilia and Paul will discuss the island's illustrious musical history.
Other destinations visited by Brown will include Atlantic City and Asbury Park.
Again, the episode airs at 10:30 p.m. tonight on the Travel Channel. Check it out, and let us know what you think!
So glad Wildwood is going to get a fun review tonight. I grew up in Wildwood and would not want to live anywhere else. The summer fun we had as kids and now share with my son's family is one you never forget. The Beach the Boards and the flow of food and fun in the sun. No better way to spend the Summer.
