A Little Cafe reopens under new chef/owner, now year round

Over the past 15 years, Chef Michael Ayoub has plied his trade in country club, restaurant and resort kitchens up and down the East Coast, from New York City to Tampa, Florida. Most recently, he served as executive sous chef at Congress Hall in Cape May.

Several months back, Ayoub learned of an opportunity that would lead to his latest venture, and a fresh start for a popular neighborhood spot in Wildwood Crest.

"A friend in real estate told me about A Little Cafe, that the business was available," he explained. "I instantly saw the potential here and decided this was the right move. My father owned a similar cafe in Pennsylvania and it's always something I've had in mind, to own and run my own place."

A Little Cafe (8700 New Jersey Avenue) reopens under Ayoub's direction on Thursday, December 22 - an "early Christmas present" for the community. Previously a seasonal business, the bistro will now operate year round, serving breakfast and lunch.

Ayoub has reworked the menu (viewable HERE), which will continue to feature sandwiches, salads, "from scratch" soups and baked goods, along with a full service coffee bar. There will also be an emphasis on vegan and gluten free options.

"Some of our menu options will rotate on a seasonal basis," said Ayoub, who was classically trained at the French Culinary Institute in New York. "In terms of other changes, we've added a new indoor seating area with five tables. It's a perfect place to enjoy a warm breakfast, lunch or beverage during the colder months ahead.

"I decided to keep the name 'A Little Cafe' because it's a perfect description of what this place is. It's cozy and comfortable. We're looking forward to being part of the community, getting to know the locals and serving vacationers when the summer season arrives."

A Little Cafe will be open December 22, 23 & 23 from 8 am to 2 pm, then will be closed December 25, 26 & 27.

It will reopen December 28-31 from 8 am to 2 pm.

Regular hours starting New Years Day will be Wednesday - Sunday, 8 am to 2 pm.
