Upscale Italian dining returns to the Boardwalk, Pompeo's opens for dinner

PRESS RELEASE

With Memorial Day around the corner, nostalgic establishment Pompeo's has announced their reopening for dinner. For decades, Pompeo's served the travelers and residents of the island. After the previous owners, the Klugs, retired, the doors were shut for years. In 2020, the Merlino family reopened the popular restaurant and towards the end of June 2021 will plan for their official ribbon cutting.

Pompeo's will kick off dinner on Friday, May 28 at 5:30 pm and continue through Sunday. The restaurant will be open for dinner on Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays until June 21 when dinner will be available daily for dine-in and take-out.

Dinner at Pompeo's focuses on Italian dishes packed with family recipes, homemade pasta, and fresh seafood. By focusing on his roots, owner Rich Merlino created a menu that suits a great need for the Boardwalk: upscale dining.

"At Pompeo's, we want our dinner guests to have a warm experience that brings the nostalgia of an Italian family dinner," said Merlino. "Our plates are large and our guests will not leave hungry, just as no one ever left my Nonna's house hungry."

Lobster ravioli, flounder stuffed with crab, veal parmigiana, zuppe de pesce, cacio e pepe, and mussels marinara are all dinner favorites at Pompeo's. Paired with fresh fritto misto, fried mozzerella, or diver scallop appetizers, guests will experience an elevated dinner with an ocean view.

Best of all, Pompeo's will also offer the "island's best kept secret," Nonna's Italian Dinner, for just $19.95. This dish can only be ordered by request on site, and has been advertised across town as such. The meal comes with three courses: soup or salad with a side of bread, homemade pasta with gravy, sausage or meatballs, and homemade dessert with premium Lavazza coffee or tea.

"Ask for Nonna" will become a targeted marketing campaign for Pompeo's this season.

"Reopening Pompeo's has been a fantastic joy for my family and I," said Merlino. "So many travelers remember the restaurant from the 80's and 90's. I want to bring that back and combine those experiences with the memories of family dinners long forgotten with today's busy world."

In addition to delicious dinners, Pompeo's Cafe Mila, located at the back of the restaurant will offer premium Lavazza coffee beverages, from fresh hot coffee to high quality espresso drinks. Cafe Mila Premium Coffee Bar is a grab-and-go option available all day for walk-in or dine-in.

Memorial Day Weekend hours for Pompeo's are Thursday - Monday from 8 am - 12 pm or later for breakfast and lunch, Friday - Sunday from 5:30 - 9 pm or later for dinner. Pompeo's is located on the corner of 17th & Boardwalk next to Little Nicky's. A parking lot for customers is available with limited space behind the building.
