KONG Turns One: Morey's Piers Hosts Supersized Birthday Party for World's Largest One-Year-Old

Standing 20 ft. tall and weighing a whopping 4,400 pounds, KONG, the beloved gorilla themed amusement ride, turns one year old and to celebrate, Morey’s Piers is hosting a first birthday party of gigantic proportions.

KONG’s first birthday party will take place on Thursday, June 23 from 1pm to 3pm. During the celebration, guests can enjoy a complimentary ride on KONG, music from gorilla dressed tribal drummers, cupcakes and bananas, a cookie decorating station for kids, birthday party hats, exclusive sale at Kong & Co. retail shop with 20% off a single item and more.

An iconic boardwalk landmark in the early 1970s, KONG made a colossal return to the Wildwoods boardwalk last summer to quickly become the centerpiece of Morey’s Surfside Pier.

Families visiting the classic shore side destination this summer will also enjoy a number of events, celebrations and entertainment including:


  • Morey’s Brunch Bunch returns to Rendezvous Beach on July 15 and 29 and August 12 and 26, 2016. Fit for a princess or super hero, Morey’s Brunch Bunch invites families to dine and play with beloved characters. Menu items span from scrambled eggs and Belgian waffles to yogurt with granola and a toast station with mini bagels, bread, croissants and Danish pastries. Other activities include a treasure hunt, face painting, games and dancing.


Brunch Bunch is recommended for children ages two to 12.  Children must be accompanied by an adult. Brunch tickets are $40 for children age two to 12 and $35 for guests 13 and older. Children under two years old are free. Combination brunch and water park passes are also available at a special price of $60 for children two to 12 years old and $55 for guests 13 years of age and older.   •  Morey’s Kids Kamp: designed for kids between the ages of seven and 12, this half-day summer camp features arts, crafts, beach games, snacks, swimming and an array of education activities with a qualified instructor.  Educational programs include: safety and first aid workshops, ecology workshop on the beach eco-system, a “hands-on” surfing lesson and a “behind the scenes” tour of the inner workings of the amusement piers and water parks.


Available camp dates include July 18-22, August 1-5, and August 15-19.  Each Morey’s Kids Kamp is a five-day session and runs from 8:45am – 12:45pm. The cost is $199 per camper, per week session and includes all activities and Morey’s Kids Kamp T-shirt. One-day Kids Kamp admission is $56 (and does include a t-shirt). School of Rock, a performance program for young musicians ages seven to 18, returns to Adventure Pier with a full-line up of evening concerts now through September 4. Featured shows range from local School of Rock bands from New Jersey, Pennsylvania and New York, to bands as far as Nashville and Canada.   • “Third Thursdays” at artBOX will be held on July 15 and August 18 from 6pm to 10pm at artBOX, the interactive artists’ colony crafted from 11 re-purposed shipping containers on Adventure Pier. “Third Thursday” events provide opportunities for the artistically minded to mingle with resident and visiting artists, take art lessons, and enjoy live entertainment. Each event will feature a painting party hosted by Artist of the Rocks, complimentary beer and wine, glass blowing demonstrations, discounts at the artBOX store and more.  To register for the Artist of Rocks painting party lesson, visit www.artistontherocks.com.
