Community assists those in need in storm's aftermath; American Legion Post set up as donation center

Volunteers at American Legion Post 184, 4200 Atlantic Ave.
A campaign to help local victims of last weekend's storm that began on the Island Community Connections Facebook group page has expanded and found a home of its own.

Members of American Legion Post 184 and Vietnam Veterans of America Chapter 955 have teamed with the initial group of volunteers and are accepting donations of non-perishable food, clothing, blankets, pet food and furniture for those in need.

Donations may be dropped off at the American Legion Post 184, located at 4200 Atlantic Avenue in Wildwood.

Those in need may stop by this location any day between noon and 6 p.m.

All donations will be shared with residents of the island's four communities - Wildwood, North Wildwood, Wildwood Crest and West Wildwood - as well as Grassy Sound.

Proof of residence is required to receive assistance.
